Wena! JAME. Is a 90-minute multimedia journey through different urban dance and music styles of the African continent and its diaspora, which says world music and other weird AFRICA clichés au revoir.

The simultaneous interplay of music (DJ & MC performance of the Freak de l'Afrique sound system), visual arts (light effects & Afro-inspired 3D projections in collaboration with Amin Shahsavar) and dance (Freak de l'Afrique dance crew) offers a unique, different sensory appeal Performance.

Freak de l'Afrique has set itself the goal on this trip to break the prevailing romanticized, exoticized and unrealistic notions of “African music” and to bring the Berlin audience closer to new sounds, visuals and movements from the African continent and its diaspora with clear statements .

Wena! JAME is a creative process by a predominantly black or Afro-diasporic team, which works in an unconventional way to deconstruct existing images of Africa and calls for IMPACT for urban popular African music styles and its diaspora in the cultural scene!
