It's About Our Booties - Reframe Fat-Reclaim Movement - Workshop 7
Celebrating fat often ends where it is hardest: on your own stomach! We want to dedicate ourselves to what an online article can hardly cover: to indulge our fat sensibly and to set new anchors of appreciation that are difficult to come into the world through pure thought. A vaccination against the diet industry!
By giving fat as tissue a new framework ("Reframe Fat"), space is created for a new relationship that celebrates fat in its elegance, transformativity and resilience. Movement can then be researched by feeling fat tissue and, detached from weight loss, re-appropriate (“Reclaim Movement”).
Starting with the movement of our own body, we then feel how individual people can form a group, a political movement. For this purpose, fat tissue and movement are approximated with various body-related methods that originate from the areas of somatic work (Feldenkrais, BodyMindCentering, experiential anatomy, authentic movement). If this is done with creative methods such as B. is combined with automatic writing, the fat magic is in full bloom!
The workshop will address questions such as:
How are fat bodies seen and what is inscribed in our bodies?
How did I move to hide or adapt my fat body - e.g. pulling in my stomach? How does that continue to this day? How do I relate to my adipose tissue?
How can I feel and devote myself to this in a transformative way?
What demands arise from this body-bound new consciousness on our environment, such as the queer scene?
You don't need (mental) fitness, come as you are. Breaks are always welcome. You remain the captain of your process and the virtual couch is always free to rest and bathe in the fat processes of others.
Let's dive into the sea of fat cells.
Mäk's concept works over a longer period of time, with phases of relaxation and self-reflection in between. For this reason, the Mäks group meets on two weekends.
For: Fat people, also white people and people who are not disabled are welcome.
This workshop will be held in spoken German and will take place online.
