Isusu Ffena Festival
Isusu Ffena will host a festival from the 12th to 13th of August 2022, themed 'Community and Identity in our Cityscape'. Isusu Ffena which translates to "us together" in Shona and Luganda is a festival that revolves around the idea of togetherness. We create a common ground to stand on - where a sense of empathy with one another can thrive, building a culture that encompasses the very ideals of social sustainability; celebration, visibility, inclusivity and equity.
Our events will include an exhibition exploring togetherness in urban settings in collaboration with black photographers. Moreover, we will showcase a poetry exhibition by Tanatsei Gambura, a talented writer who has had her debut collection ‘Things I have forgotten before’ published by Bad Betty Press. A discussion with poet Tanaka Chidora will be hosted to explore how he expresses the forming of identity in his home city of Harare.
