Writing in German

“I can tell you not to be afraid to feel and write about it. Even if you're scared, write anyway! We have learned to work when we are tired, so we can learn to write when we are afraid. '
- Audre Lorde

“Black to the Future” is a place in the future - a place of utopia that our thoughts put on paper. Together we create a space between now and tomorrow. We deal with writing as a form of resistance practice and use creative writing processes to challenge different realities. The writing meeting creates space for stories beyond the white 'norm' and creates a decolonial and intersectional vision using Afro-futuristic elements. Concepts of gender, identity, class or origin should be questioned and the future should be re-imagined. How can we use Afro-futuristic writing as a form of resistance practice? What visions beyond Wakanda can we create? And how do they work out in exchange with other participants?

Black to the Future is a collective get-together for all those with an affinity for writing and those who want to become one. We approach utopias from an afrofuturistic perspective, through a variety of inputs and interactive exercises, exchange ideas and express our ideas in writing. The “Black to the future” - writing meeting with Adyam Tesfamariam and Savannah Sipho Nkomo takes place within the framework of our project workshop “You got this!”.
All levels and writing styles are welcome. The event will take place in German and is aimed exclusively at members of the black community. If we look at current discourses, many of our visions for the future seem utopian. For this reason, we want to create a space together with participants on this day that re-imagines the future from an Afrocentric and black position and thus opposes the dystopian danger.

!!! Note on the current Corona hygiene regulations:
The maximum number of participants is limited to 10 people in order to ensure a minimum distance of 1.5m. All participants * must wear a mouth and nose cover (may be removed from the seat). Disinfectants are provided. You have to bring your own food with you, as drinks, snacks and meals are not allowed.

+++ For members of the black community +++
With the designation "For members of the black community", we would like to point out that these workshops and events are aimed exclusively at people who position themselves as black (B = Black). That means people who belong to the African diaspora, those who have anti-black experiences of racism and are read by the majority society as non-white. In order to give racially discriminated people the opportunity to articulate their thoughts within a so-called “safe space” without experiencing exclusion and avoiding patronizing a predominantly white group of participants, we design certain courses exclusively.
