Every month, “Black Brown & Vocal” offers a space for meeting and exchange for all Black and afrodiasporic people in Berlin.
This sessions we will speak about: Overcoming gaslighting (personally, culturally, historically…). Gaslighting describes a manipulation, usually over an extended period of time, that causes one to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories. As Black and afrodiasporic people this affects us constantly on multiple levels, be it, the denial of personal racist experience we’ve had, the cultural suppression of Black perspectives, or the whitewashing of history. We want to exchange tools, methods and knowledge on how to overcome this gaslighting and be confident in the validity of our own perspectives.
The group talk is facilitated by Felicia Lazaridou (she/her), a psychologist who works on intersectionality, racism criticism and empowerment from the perspective of Black and People of Colour.
